ABOUT PRIMATE PROPS

Primate Props is a one-of-a-kind edgy and industrial prop house located within the raw brick walls of The 1896 Studios and Stages.

Primate was established by scenic artist and sculptor, Jen Durbin in 2008 with the vision of seeing talent crawling and climbing all over pieces– as primates do.

Jen has used her background in art as influence and in many cases, literally to create the various aged and distressed textures seen both throughout the prop collection and around all the stages of The 1896.

Primate Props and The 1896 are united by the goal to offer artists unique ways to distinguish their projects, be it through our hand painted flats and floors, our naturally aged chairs, collection of distressed tools, or by the walls of the space itself.
